Diagnosis of heart failure disease and how to treat it. Usually, the diagnosis is determined based on signs and symptoms complained of or seen directly during examination.

To confirm the diagnosis, the doctor will do various checks, for example:
  • Physical examination, presence of a weak pulse and rapid, decreased blood pressure, abnormal heart sounds, heart enlargement, swelling of the neck veins, fluid in the lungs, liver enlargement, rapid weight gain, swelling of the abdomen or legs. 
  • Rontgen examination (X-ray), on the chest could point to an enlarged heart and fluid accumulation in the lungs. 
  • Echocardiography (using sound waves to describe the heart) and electrocardiography (assessing the electrical activity of the heart).

Treatment of Heart Failure Disease
Treatment is done so that people feel more comfortable in a variety of physical activities, and can improve the quality of life and increase life expectancy. In the treatment or care of patients with heart failure disease cases, there are three fundamental things that become a reference, among others; Treatment of heart failure itself, treatment of the underlying disease and the treatment of the trigger factors.
Included in the medical treatment that reduces fluid retention and salt, increase cardiac contractility and reduce burden. While handling generally include rest, setting the temperature and humidity, oxygen, fluids and diet.
Administering medications, such as inotropic drugs (digitalis, intravenous inotropes), vasodilator drug (arteriolar dilator: hydralazine), venodilators (nitrates, nitroglycerin), mixed dilator (prazosin, captopril, nitroprusside), diuretics and drugs dysrhythmias.
Surgery, this is usually done to cope with congenital heart disease (palliative, corrective) and acquired heart diseases (valvuloplasty, valve replacement).
